Third-quarter consumer prices in Australia confirmed the suspicions of the central bank that inflation is proceeding at a pace that is weaker than initially expected. Weaker inflation opens up the door for an interest rate cut from the RBA before the end of the year – if conditions in the economy warrant it. After this release the anticipation and speculation around the upcoming interest-rate decision has just been given a lot more fuel, though the AUD may feel the pressure till then.
